D-15E Mexico Guitar

When Martin introduced the 15 series during the great depression, it was designed as an affordable instrument. At the time mahogany was a common, everyday wood, which was available in abundance.
In the meantime, this has changed significantly. Good mahogany is expensive and so is US American labor. To permit Martin fans with a low budget to afford a 15 series guitar, the people at Martin came up with something special.
The D-15E is a Martin Dreadnought with a solid Mahogany top, providing a powerful midrange punch and a well-balanced tone. For the back and sides, however, for the first time in the history of the 15 series, Martin chose Sapele. This African tonewood is also part of the wider family of mahogany plants, but a bit brighter in tone and a lot more affordable than American Mahogany. In order to make the D-15E even more affordable, Martin decided to build it in their own factory in Mexico. The Martin trained luthiers in Mexico have made a name for themselves for first class craftmanship at an affordable price. Thus, we come full circle to an excellent guitar at an affordable price.
To complete the package, the design team thought of all the guitar players who want to share their Martin tone miracle with an audience. Therefore, the D-15 is equipped with a Martin E1 system, right out of the box!
